Today is a special day at BDCU – we’re proud to announce that we’ve reached the incredible milestone of £5 million in lending!

More than a financial achievement, this number represents the people we serve in our local communities and the support that’s available to them during difficult moments. It also shows how strong our community can be when we work together.

As a not-for-profit organisation, our mission has always been to help local people live with financial confidence and stability, so we’re delighted to have hit the £5m mark. Every pound we lend goes towards something important, whether it’s repairing a broken appliance, covering an unexpected bill or helping someone start to rebuild their financial future.

In the last three years, we have grown our membership by a whopping 80% and now hold £6.5 million in savings. Because of this – and, of course, the £5m+ we’ve lent – our members have avoided around £3.74 million in high-interest costs from doorstep lenders and loan sharks. That means their money has stayed in local pockets – where it belongs!

This achievement belongs to all of you.
