Happy International Women’s Day!

Celebrating International Women’s Day with Purpose and Pride.
BDCU proudly marked International Women’s Day recently with a celebration that epitomised the power, resilience and achievements of the women within our organisation, as well as those in the wider community. The event was hosted alongside the Lord Mayor and served as a moving testament to the struggles and successes of women.
Beginning with four inspirational female guests who shared their powerful life stories, the day continued with a series of heartfelt performances from a talented group of girls, whose songs united all attendees in harmony.
Beyond reflection and celebration, the day also offered us a chance to connect and collaborate. During the lunch session, we actively engaged with other businesses to promote our mission and vision, highlighting our unwavering commitment to equality, empowerment and the recognition of women’s contributions – all values that are deeply rooted in our ethos.
In addition to marking this global occasion, we are proud to acknowledge the exceptional accomplishments of our BDCU team over the past year. Our CEO, Katie Hurrell, was recognised as the runner-up in the Public and Third Sector Leader category at TheBusinessDesk Yorkshire Leadership Awards, an achievement that reflects her dedication and impactful leadership.
Furthermore, one of our apprentices, Fizza, was celebrated for her remarkable achievements as a finalist and runner-up in the ‘Apprentice of the Year’ category at the Yorkshire Post Excellence in Business Awards.
These accolades underscore the commitment and excellence demonstrated by our staff and we extend our deepest appreciation for their contributions to BDCU and beyond.
