This March, we’re thrilled to celebrate the month of Ramadan!

Bradford is renowned as a city of culture and this year it’s proudly representing Ramadan through an iconic new structure – the Ramadan Pavilion!

Inspired by the month of Ramadan, this striking showpiece of creative art and design celebrates the lived experiences of Muslims worldwide and features a stunning double-archway structure, drawing from diverse architectural traditions. It combines the elegant colonnaded courtyards seen in sacred and civic spaces, such as those surrounding the holy sanctuary at Mecca, with the pointed and ornate forms of Venetian Gothic architecture, reminiscent of Bradford’s own City Hall.

Open Iftar Event!

Here at Bradford District Credit Union, we’re excited to be taking part in Bradford 2025’s Open Iftar event on March 21st and 22nd!

A celebration of community, inclusivity and cultural exchange, the event will see people from all faiths coming together for Iftar, the meal that Muslims observe in Ramadan to break their fast at sunset.

We have some exciting history to share!

In 2018, the late Lord Mayor, Councillor Abid Hussain, opened his own savings account with Bradford District Credit Union to encourage more people from ethnic minorities to join us.

Since then, we’ve strengthened our partnerships with Muslim organisations to become a ‘faith-friendly’ union, meaning BDCU savers can now choose to earn dividends instead of earning interest on their accounts if they prefer. Together, we are a team.
