Member Story: Building a Brighter Future Through Saving.
Taking place from September 22nd – 28th, UK Savings Week is an annual event designed to promote awareness of the importance of saving and the wide range of different saving accounts that are available to people through the UK’s financial institutions.
To commemorate this year’s event, we met up with one of our members, Laura, to find out about her experience of saving with BDCU. This is what she had to say!
“As a 40-year-old, proud mum of three who has been a BDCU member for five years, I can honestly say that joining the credit union was one of the best decisions I ever made, not just for me but for my family.
“I use the Family Loan scheme and it’s made a huge difference. I rely on it for things like Christmas and the summer holidays – times when I want to give my kids something special but without too much stress. What makes it manageable is that my child benefit goes straight into my credit union account so I never have to worry about missing a loan repayment as it’s all already taken care of. That peace of mind means everything and it helps make saving easier too.
“My relationship with saving is probably the thing that’s changed the most since I joined BDCU. I’ve started putting something aside regularly, even if it’s just a little. It’s helped me feel more secure and more hopeful because I know I’m building something for my children’s future and that means the world to me.
“Being part of BDCU is great and I’m so glad I’ve started saving – it’s given me confidence, stability and a sense of belonging. I’d encourage anyone, especially other parents, to look into it. It’s not just about money, it’s about feeling supported and empowered. It feels like a community that sees and supports people like me!”
Thanks for your kind words and for taking the time to chat with us, Laura. Here’s to the next five years!
