Happy Pride Day
Happy Pride Day!
Each year, we come together to celebrate Pride Month, a time to honour the rich history, vibrant diversity, and remarkable achievements of the LGBTQ+ community.
At Bradford District Credit Union, we proudly marked Pride Day with a special event outside City Hall on Saturday. We are excited to announce that Ian our EDI Community Development Lead and Janka, our Marketing Apprentice attended Pride Bradford on 3rd of August 2024. Our dedication to inclusivity and support for the LGBTQ+ community aligns with our broader mission to promote equality and create a welcoming environment for all members.
We distributed colourful, Pride-themed cupcakes, symbolising unity and inclusivity, with contributions from local bakeries. We are honoured to have been part of the Pride Month celebrations and to support the LGBTQ+ community. We also shared a stand with partners Bradford Care Association and CABAD to meet more people .
Our engagement goes beyond Pride events. We are collaborating closely with partners like West Yorkshire Mayor Tracy Brabin and Bradford Council and on funded community development projects co-produced with local stakeholders. These partnerships demonstrates our dedication to addressing community needs and supporting diversity that has contributed to our significant growth, reaching 10,000 members this year. ABCUL, our trade body, supports our efforts by promoting inclusive practices and providing resources to help member credit unions effectively engage with the LGBTQ+ community. Their leadership ensures that our sector remains a strong advocate for equality and LGBTQ+ rights, reinforcing our collective impact.
As our CEO Katie Hurrell puts it: “At Bradford District Credit Union, our commitment to inclusivity and support for the LGBTQ+ community is at the heart of everything we do.”
