Supporting Our Community

Bradford District Credit Union is committed to supporting our community, promoting the financial wellbeing of anyone living or working in our common bond.

The Credit Union runs a number of financial inclusion projects including ‘Money SOS’ workshops, Money Tips, FoodSavers and UniformSavers. All are making a real impact to people's lives.

We believe in community led co-designed development projects that help tackle poverty through financial education and dignity that comes from saving and safe borrowing to reach life goals.

Our 'Money SOS'  ‘’train the trainer’ workshops takes you on a journey down 'Jargon Buster Walk’ where you can learn about APR, Payday Loans, Loan Sharks, Contactless, Overdrafts, Credit Score and the Credit Union.

Hear it from our members:

Jenni is a Bradford council payroll saver and borrower who told her story on BBC Look North and Radio Leeds. Our financial inclusion officer, Ian Brewer also interviewed her.

'Bradford District Credit Union was there for me when I needed my first loan 15 years ago. Saving via my council payroll has helped me get into the savings habit and I don’t even notice it till I log in and see my growing balance. Taking a loan is easy and I pay this back from my payroll too.'

Work with us

BDCU is always looking for partner organisations to work with. If you can see a partnership role for a non-profit community organisation providing protected savings and affordable loans, then get in touch.
