‘Talk Money Week,’ payroll roadshow was a great success with our partners, Money and Pensions Service (MaPS) that showcased our commitment to financial education and payroll partnerships.
Our well-planned events attracted national media attention from various publications, including:

Highlights of the Week:
The week kicked off at the Bradford Royal Infirmary, where NHS staff and partners participated in the ‘Money SOS’ workshop. A subsequent invitation to the BBC Radio Leeds studio provided us with an opportunity for an extended interview on the week, as well as insights into BDCU’s growth and projects. The event culminated in a Staff Rewards gathering for Bradford University Staff, where a live presentation was delivered, and partners came together for an impactful in-person event.
We were fortunate to have media coverage from Radio Leeds, BCB Community Radio, and a planned meeting with Look North. Additionally, the week gained recognition as one of the CU’s biggest events, as acknowledged by ABCUL to all credit unions.
National Recognition on BBC Radio 4:
The impact of our initiatives reached national levels when BBC Radio 4’s ‘You and Yours’ who have covered past projects. An insightful interview with Robert Kelly from ABCUL was featured, and a case study featuring our organiser at Bradford University was highlighted. Listen to the piece [here].
Webinars and Engagements:
Following this momentum, we hosted four webinars with our main payroll partners and a comprehensive webinar for all companies. These sessions covered topics ranging from pensions, money help, mental health, and awareness about loan sharks, while also promoting our savings and loans. Around 350 staff members either attended in person or booked onto a webinar, marking a successful effort in re-energising relationships.
Our success stories include:
1. Melanie from Bradford University shared her journey of saving and borrowing with BDCU on Radio 4.
2. Simon from Incommunities Building Services praised the convenience of our services, highlighting the ease of loan processing directly from his wage and the user-friendly smartphone banking experience.
As we reflect on the impactful ‘Talk Money Week,’ we look forward to sustaining these positive relationships and undertaking further engagements in early 2024. Stay tuned for more exciting updates! 🚀💰
